TOMAR’s R37I Revolution Series IR Illuminators are key components in any system where a camera is used for license plate recognition (LPR), video tolling, security CCTV surveillance or parking lot access control that requires a high-power, rugged infrared or visible pulsed illuminator.
Our weather-proof, externally triggered, pulsed illuminators provide high energy, short duration, pulses for capturing motion at up 120Hz rates. LED wavelength options include 850nm and 940nm infrared and visible options including white, red, blue, or other colors.
Combinations of wavelength, with independent intensity settings, such as IR and white can be used to optimize image capture for varying target types and ambient lighting. With eight available optical diffusers, TOMAR Illuminators can be optioned for close-range wide angled illumination, to long-range point targets, or any distance in between. TOMAR’s Revolution LED Illuminators are the ideal solution for illumination of targets for the purposes of video or photo identification. Regardless of the target’s velocity, the Revolution Illuminator works with your video or image capture equipment synonymously to ensure the target is illuminated precisely during capture execution.
As part of the TOMAR Revolution Series, Illuminators have a standard IP69K+ water intrusion rating thanks to TOMAR's patented T-Seal™ technology and TOMAR’s Clear Vision Optics™. A standard 5-Year Warranty accompanies all TOMAR Revolution Illuminators.
SYNCHRONIZED OPERATION
Revolution Illuminators can be triggered to flash at the proper time for video capture, at rates of up to 120Hz, by an optically-isolated 5-24VDC trigger pulse, or via an RS-485 command allowing for hardware or software triggering. When triggered, all LEDs in the illuminator flash together. Tightly controlled trigger delays insure LED flashes occur at consistent times.
The included RS-485 interface allows programming of the following parameters:
- Illuminator address – allows multiple Revolution Illuminators on one RS-485 interface
- LED Drive Current (Intensity) – from 0-100% of full in 255 steps
- Light Pulse Duration – from 100-500uS in 200 steps

OPTIMIZED PERFORMANCE
The R37I Revolution Illuminator comprises two sets of LEDs, eight in one set, sixteen in the next, each of which can be a different color or wavelength allowing mixing of visible and non-visible light for the best video capture. Each of the two LED sets has an individual intensity setting so the illuminator output can be adjusted based on exposure needs or ambient light availability. TOMAR Clear Vision Optics, along with a wide range of diffuser selections, makes the R37I easily adaptable to a specific application whether mounted overhead on a gantry, by the side of the road on a pedestal, or under the eaves of a building.
